Shalgam ka saag/ Turnip saag step by step

  1. Pressure cook the turnips with 1 cup water till 3-4 whistles. Then let the pressure release naturally and open the lid. Thereafter strain all the extra water and mash the turnips with a potato masher..
  2. Now heat ghee in a pan or kadhai and add jeera, let it crackle. Then add ginger, green chilli and onions. Saute till the onions become translucent. Then add tomatoes and saute for a couple of minutes..
  3. Furthermore add all the dry spices and saute. Add the boiled turnips..
  4. Mix well,add the jaggery powder and let it simmer on a low flame for a few minutes. Garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with Paranthas or phulkas..
